There is a saying that “word of mouth is the best salesman” and that is true when it comes to the best places to work in Canada.

After all, who knows better what it is like to work for a particular employer than the employees themselves?

Forbes collaborated with the Statista market research company to conduct a huge survey of over 10,000 people working in Canada at companies that have 500 or more employees.

Those taking part in the nationwide survey were asked to evaluate their openness to recommending that their family members or friends work in Canada for their employer.

In addition to that, the survey participants were asked to recommend other employers aside from the one they worked for.

The results were used to produce the Forbes ranking of the 300 best workplaces in Canada for 2022.

These top employers received the most recommendations and are recognized for their social responsibility, having an inclusive workplace environment and making a positive impact on the community, among other desirable attributes.

Hydro-Quebec, located in Montreal, Quebec, is a utility company with 20,011 employees that was rated as the #1 best place to work in Canada for 2022.

Second place was awarded to the University of New Brunswick, which has 3,000 employees and is located in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

The Canada School of Public Service in Ottawa, Ontario, which has 786 employees, came in 3rd place.

Receiving the fourth most recommendations was the Regional Municipality of York, which is located in York, Ontario, and has 5,000 workers.

The logistics and transportation company, Purolator, is located in Mississauga, Ontario, has 13,000 employees and had the fifth most nominations.

Microsoft, the global software and IT firm, which has 3,700 employees working in Canada, is also located in Mississauga, Ontario, and it was listed in 6th place.

There are 900 people working at the University of Victoria, in Victoria, British Columbia, which received the seventh most nominations.

Another Canadian higher education institution, Sheridan College, has 3,549 employees and was ranked the #7 best employer in Canada.

Health Canada in Ottawa, Ontario, received the ninth highest number of nominations and has 11,223 workers.

There are 5,000 people working for the Canadian Mental Health Association in Toronto, Ontario, which was the #10 top workplace in Canada.
